EVICTION & DISPLACEMENT — GOVINDASAMY NAGAR

I documented the eviction process in Govindasamy Nagar, Chennai, capturing the demolition of homes and the devastating impact of displacement on the lives of residents. The project followed the process as families witnessed their homes being dismantled, documenting the physical destruction of their living spaces and the uncertainty surrounding their future.

During the eviction, one person tragically died by suicide. Through a sustained photographic documentation of the entire process, I sought to record the human cost of eviction and displacement, bringing attention to the loss of homes, the disruption of everyday life, and the emotional realities faced by affected communities.
